In Part 1 of this post (if you haven’t read it, click on the link to read it now) I wrote about what Brad Pitt and Will Smith did to get their bodies super lean and defined for their respective ‘Fight Club‘ and ‘I AM Legend‘ roles (if you haven’t read it already, you should check it out before reading this post).
Since I didn’t get to include any of the specific workouts these big screen stars used to muscle up in Part 1 (because it would have been too long to be readable), I’m going to do that in this article. And share my insights with you.
It’s Cool Reading About Taylor Lautner’s Workout to Get Six Pack Abs BUT …
Trying to copy his exact workout at your local gym or at home isn’t the best course of action for you to take to get lean and get six pack abs.
Okay I can hear you saying “why not? it worked for him …” – yes it did BUT he had three unfair advantages that you probably don’t have (which is what makes them ‘unfair’
). (1) He already had a very strong core and visible abs from his extensive martial arts training; (2) he is a teenage boy (my apologies to the women reading this article, but to the guys: you DO remember being a teenage boy, don’t you?); and (3) his biggest advantage: time + big money.
The ‘Unfair Advantage’
Dave over at Not Your Average Fitness Tips pointed out Taylor’s ‘unfair advantage’ in his comments on Part 1 of this post (click here if you haven’t read it yet) and in his excellent Hollywood Workout article (which I recommend that you read).
Taylor Lautner had almost a year to get that shrink wrapped ‘Hollywood Look‘ Rusty Moore teaches people to achieve in his Visual Impact course. And he had access to the best personal trainer movie company money could buy — not to mention being paid millions of dollars to get that look.

[LL Cool J turned his body into one of the best physiques in Hollywood through whole body circuit training, nutrition, continually striving to improve his fitness level and a no excuses mental attitude]
Okay so lets check out the links to the workouts of two action stars. I’m going to post parts of the articles and add my comments about what I think you should take away from the action stars workouts.
1. LL Cool J’s Platinum Workout
“I love whole body circuit training. You get all the large muscles involved-legs, back, chest, etc and shoot that heart rate through the ceiling.
So when I say whole body circuit training, I like to incorporate movements that really stress the largest muscles of the body. For example, we might do a set of squats (or leg presses), immediately followed by a set of pull-ups, or rows, and alternate back and forth for 3-4 sets. No rest between sets. Then rest 30-60 seconds, hit the chest with some dips, push-ups, or bench, followed immediately by jumping lunges done with an overhead press (holding dumbbells).
Do this combo for 3-4 sets, and then we might do a boxing circuit where Todd is sparring with me for 1-2 minutes and between those sets, he’s doing bodyweight jump squats. Follow all of this with interval training on a treadmill or outside on a track, depending on our setting, and he’s slammed for the day.” Read more about Get Six Pack Abs ‘Secrets’ Of Big Screen Action Stars Revealed (Part 2)
